About Us
Old Veteran Construction, Inc. (OVC) is a Chicago-based firm specializing in General Contracting and Masonry work. OVC began in 1986 when Old Veteran Tuckpointing was founded by Jose Maldonado, President and sole owner. Mr. Maldonado established the company after working for years as a masonry laborer and tuckpointer. In 1993, after experiencing much growth, the company name was changed and Old Veteran Construction, Inc. was incorporated with Mr. Maldonado remaining as President and sole owner. Along with the name change were other significant future changes for OVC as it became a Certified Minority Contractor (MBE/ DBE) with City of Chicago and State of Illinois Agencies, a Certified Small Disadvantaged Business (8a) and HubZone firm with Federal Agencies and a member of the Chicago Chapter of the American Subcontractor Association (ASA).
In 1999, OVC which had previously only performed masonry work, expanded its scope of services to include General Contracting. Since then OVC has gained a wide range of project experience performing new building construction, interior/ exterior renovation and site improvements for both private and public clients. Public Agencies for which OVC has performed work as a prime contractor include Chicago Housing Authority Chicago Dept. of General Services, Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago Dept. of Transportation, Chicago Public Schools, Public Building Commission of Chicago, Dept. of Navy, Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Army Corps of Engineers and University of Illinois at Chicago.
OVC staff is comprised of degreed construction managers and industry professionals with a vast variety of General Contracting, Construction Management, Job Order Contracting (JOC) and Masonry project experience who will work together to meet the unique challenges of each project.
